Work Orders


#Work Orders – About
Work Orders are used to record and view information about the ECM history enabling technicians to reference previous ECM settings. Work Orders contain one or more images that contain a snapshot of all INSITE™ accessible data.

The Work Orders window is used to manage Work Orders, Images and Templates. The Work Order window has an upper and lower section. The upper section shows Work Orders and summary information. The lower section shows Templates.

Select Work Orders from the Viewbar (refer to Figure 1.1 above) to open the Work Orders window. When connected to an ECM or Simulator, INSITE™ will only display the work orders and images associated with that specific Engine Serial Number and it will only show Templates for that ECM type. If not connected, all Work Orders and Templates will be displayed.

Work Orders are initially sorted by the Last Modified Date, with the most recent Work Orders at the top. The list may be resorted by the values in any of the columns. To resort either list, click on the column header. The table will be resorted based on the selected column in ascending order. Click on the column header again to resort the table again in descending order. Columns may be moved by selecting the column header and dragging it to the desired location.

INSITE™ can be configured to automatically start the Work Order creation process when connecting to an ECM or Simulator by enabling the Work Order Mode. Work Order Mode will also start the image creation process before disconnecting from an ECM or Simulator. The Work Order creation will be started automatically but it can be cancelled if Work Order is not desired. Perform the following steps to enable or disable Work Order Mode:


a). Select Tools > Options from the Menu Bar.
b). When the Options window appears, select Work Orders from the left side of the screen.
c). When the Work Order screen is displayed, select or deselect the Enable Work Order Mode check box as desired.
d). Enter a Service Site Location.
e). Select OK to close the window.

#Work Orders – Parameters
The upper section of the Work Orders window contains a table that displays summary information that was recorded when the Work Orders and Images were created. The table has seven columns, explained below, and one row for each Work Order (refer to Figure 1.1 above).

1.Work Orders/ECM Images – This column displays the Work Order Name. When creating a Work Order, a default name is provided, but it can be changed if desired. The default name is “WO-” followed by the year, month, day, hour, minute, and second the work order was created. (Example: WO-20201226-034847 was created on December 26th, 2020 at 03:48:47 am).
2.System Type – This column displays the system type obtained from the ECM.
3.Customer Name – This column displays the Customer Name retrieved from the System ID and Dataplate.
4.Vehicle Unit Number – This column displays the Vehicle Unit Number retrieved from the System ID and Dataplate.
5.Engine Serial Number – This column displays the Engine Serial Number retrieved from the System ID and Dataplate.
6.Start Repair Date – This column displays the date and time that the first image was created in the work order.
7.Last Modified Date – This column displays the date and time that the most recent image was created in the work order.
#Work Orders – Right Click Menu


1.New Work Order – Select this option to open the Work Order wizard and create a new work order.
2.Delete Work Order(s) – Select this option to delete all data records associated with the selected work order(s).
3.Make Active – Select this option to activate a work order other than the current work order. When new Images are created, they are attached to the active Work Order.
4.New ECM Image – Select this option to create an ECM image of the selected work order.
5.Import Image(s) – Select this option to import a saved image file into the Work Orders window. Read More: ECM Images on Cummins INSITE Software (CUMMINS Engines).
6.Expand – Select this option to expand the selected work order to view its associated ECM images. Work Orders may also be expanded by selecting the icon to the left of the Work Order name.
7.Collapse – Select this option to collapse the selected work order, hiding its associated ECM images. Work Orders may also be collapsed by selecting the icon to the left of the Work Order name.
8.Print Work Order(s) – Select this option to print one or more work orders.
9.Properties – Select this option to view details about the Work Order. These details were created or edited when the Work Order was created or modified. Unlocked fields may be edited by double-clicking in the edit box and typing new data. Information may be added to the Technician’s Notes by clicking inside the box.

#Print ECM Image(s)
Select this option to print selected images. Multiple images can be printed by holding the Ctrl key while selecting the images to be printed. When printing multiple images, the print procedure will be performed for each image.


a). A Print ECM Images window will appear. All Features will be selected for printing and will appear in the right-hand window.


b). Add or Remove individual features to or from the Selected Features list by selecting the feature and then selecting the “-<” and “>-” buttons.
c). Add or Remove all features to or from the Selected Features list by selecting the “<<-” and “>>-” buttons.
d). Choose Tool Display Format or Text Only Format by selecting the appropriate radio button. Tool Display Format prints the data as displayed in INSITE™. Text Only Format prints the data in table format.

#Export Image(s) to External File
Select this option to export selected Images to a Comma Separated Values file (.csv) or Text (.txt). An Export Location window will appear. Select the desired file location and edit the file name, if desired. The default name “I-” is followed by the year, month, day, hour, minute, and second the work order was created. The file may be viewed using third party software applications including “Microsoft Excel”. Comma Separated Values and Text files cannot be imported back into INSITE™.


#Analyze Image
Select this option to using Image Analyzer for each Parameters, and Export the Features.

Programming the ECM using Caterpillar ET Software



The WinFlash tool can be used to set up and consecutively program the Flash memory of all onboard ECMs.
To program an ECM:
1). Start a connection to the Service Tool. Read More: How to Connecting Caterpillar ET Software to the ECM.
→Select one of the following ECMs…. Blank Box:#2841B017JJ Flash Required.
→Select Flash.


2). Click the Browse button. The Flash File Selection dialog box is displayed.


3). Select the desired file and click Open. The WinFlash screen is displayed, and ECM/File information is populated with information from the flash file.


4). Click the Begin Flash button. If more than one ECM has been selected for flashing, the Flashing Order confirmation dialog box is displayed. This allows users to determine the order in which the ECMs will be flashed.


5). The Flashing screen is displayed and the flash process will begin. This process may be canceled at any time for one ECM by clicking the Cancel button or for all ECMs by clicking the Cancel All button.
6). When the flash process completes, a dialog displays that allows a return to the service tool Cat ET, a return to WinFlash, or an Exit from the service tool. For now, Select Cat ET.


7). Return to the main menu, and displays the ECM Summary. In this case, there are found Active Codes (2), 22-13 and 253-2.

8). Select Copy Configuration from the Service menu, and then select ECM Replacement from the sub-menu. Open ECM Replacement Files (from old ECM or download from SIS), click on Program ECM. Read More: Copy Configuration Function on Caterpillar ET Software.

9). Select Configuration from the Service menu, then set the Selected Engine Rating (Rating Number: Not Programmed).

Review 1
SVCI 2020 or SVCI 2018. I do so much of them in Germany and France. It can do many things that big tools cannot do. I have Autel IM608 and OBDSTAR and VVDI MB and BMW and CGDI MB and BMW, but I always used it first. The only problem that Don’t ever do with SVCI is BSI Johnson control. It will pull the car to sleep. I had that problem 2 times.

Review 2
IMMO 4 and 5 key programming is working. Only tested on 2012 Scirocco 2.0 TSI and 2014 Audi A5 2.0T. Overall it is good value for money. Not as good as OBDSTAR X300 DP Pad for keys and odometer but has many better functions like programming and calibrations.

2005 Audi A3 8P 1.9 TDI, immo on/off – no problem. CS and pin from dash – no problem , add key – no problem , milage change in dash and ecu – no problem .
Passat B6 Comfort module dump, FVDI2018 – pin code OK, 7 byte CS only if you have 6 byte from ECU first.

fvdi2018 – dash -read pin, change milage, change immo mode – done ok, but you need to try couple of times, sometimes even 10 times before will do anything ! , cos you can get connection error !

2006 Passat B6 1.9 TDI – FVDI2018:
Make immo chip TP23 from ID48 – ok
Make dealer Key from Comfort Module dump – ok, but still need first 6 bytes of CS. VVDI can decode full 7 bytes of CS and pin code from comfort module.
Programm key by obd2- all key lost – ok, no need to short any fuses if there is comfort module dump, only pin.

Toyota Yaw Rate Acceleration Sensor and VSC Light Reset by Launch X431

ECB (Electronic Control Brake System), according to the driving status of vehicle and using the oil pressure brake system, controls S-VSC (Steering-assisted Vehicle Stability Control System), braking assist system and ABS equipped with EBD. ECB controls oil pressure brake system and the brake power produced by regenerative braking system according to actual operation status, to put regenerative braking power into fullplay and to enhance fuel efficiency.

Yaw rate sensor(also called angle speed sensor), inspect the deviation of vehicle along the vertical axis. The deviation represents the stability degree of vehicle. If the deviation angle is up to certain threshold value, it indicates that side slide occur or the vehicle has danger of excursion, so at this time VSC controlling will be triggered. When the vehicle deviates from the vertical axis, the vibration plane of micro turning fork in sensor will be changed. Acceleration sensor has two types; vertical acceleration sensor along vehicle advance direction and transverse acceleration sensor vertical to the direction of advance.

The two sensors provide parameters of vehicle status for VSC.When these sensors has malfunction or after these sensors are replaced, it needs to reset.And at same time, VSC light is lit, which has to be extinguished with diagnostic device.Here we discuss how to reset and put out the fault light with X431.The function is available in the working supporting menu of ABS of X431 TOYOTA program. The non-CANBUS systems must be used TOYOTA-16 connector or CAN BUS II connector.

The main procedures are introduced as below:

After entering ABS menu, select “clearing yaw ratio/acceleration sensor zero point (to ECB), and then the screen will prompt a dialog box.


it will prompt that if you want to execute the function, the warning light will be light,and how to extinguish the light. Click [YES] to continue.

Then enter the function menu, there are 3 steps to do, and there are prompts for relative conditions and status for every step. Please follow the instructions.


Note: please operate with ignition switch ON and in P position.


Note: VSC/ABS warning light will be light after doing this operation. The light can’t be cleared by clearing DTC function. The DTC is C1336-yaw sensor is being reset.

The operation for extinguishing warning light is available in MODE CHANGE menu:

1.Turn ignition key ON when warning light is lit.

2.Turn ignition switch ON and enter the WORKING SUPPORT menu of ABS.

3.Under MODE CHANGE menu, make it in check mode.

Operation with X431:

Select NO to enter check mode menu. See fig.8. Click [YES] to enter check mode.


4.Now, ABS/VSC/ECB warning light will be flash. If not, please repeat the operation as mentioned above till the frequency of warning light turn 1Hz to 4Hz.

Note: the frequency of unit time to be set is 1Hz.

5.It will take about 1 minute for the operation, which will be different as different vehicle.

6.Now, enter normal mode (or turn ignition switch OFF to normal mode), the warning light will be extinguished.

Operation with X431:

Click [YES], then it will enter normal mode.

The measured intake manifold pressure (the signal from the boost pressure sensor) is below the warning limit during engine cranking.

Possible causes are:
The engine air supply is clogged.
The boost pressure sensor wiring is defective.
The boost pressure sensor is defective.

Reaction in EEM
The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates active fault.
NOTE:The engine may not start, or it starts slowly and runs poorly.

Check the engine air supply system completely, consult the service instructions if necessary.
Check the air filter.
Check the piping from the air filter to the turbocharger (look for obstacles in the joints, the bends).
Check the turbocharger.
Check the piping from the turbocharger to the charge air cooler (look for obstacles in the joints, the bends).
Check the charge air cooler.
Check the piping from the charge air cooler to the inlet manifold (look for obstacles in the joints, the bends).
To check the electrical defects, check the boost pressure sensor, the sensor wiring and the controller input: First save the error log and then erase it. Restart the ECU after erasing the error log. If the fault occurs again during the next driving cycle, check the following paths:
Check the boost pressure sensor wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
Check the operation with another boost pressure sensor to see if the boost pressure sensor is defective.
